Autumn Moon

An autumn poem from my days living near Lake Michigan.

images-1Dear Companion of my planet,
I run to your rising.
Tonight when I need full power,
teach me to occupy self like you.
You burst slow motion from the lake,
trailing your shimmer along a path
to where I shout you greeting from the shore.
Succulent pumpkin, my feelings
fly out to meet you.
I throw open my arms
to fill them with your streaming.
Be my witness, my courage
to look within and name my ripeness.
Guide me to open wide my heart
and pour my harvest out in love,
like you, round sister, like you,
your yield of light suffusing the night.
Show me how to shine my gift.
