Coming Alive

My mind rests, while I wake
to the rush of blood up my legs,
to breath
storming through lungs,
to the wonder
of muscles flexing as I walk.
I wake to my skin
alive with animal awareness.
Like puma hunting in the night,
Like elephant praying over bones,
Like honey bee
dancing directions.

My spirit rests, my body rouses,
alertness lights my eyes.
Fingers tingle,
organs churn their magic,
bones connect
into the finest of art.
All my body—
visceral,
instinctive,
innate—
fits perfectly.
I revel in the physical form.

  • I am refreshed by your visit to the spa. Vicarious pleasure! My body whispers, “Love me!”

  • I need to revel in my physical form, even as it goes a bit awry at times. The more I love it/me, the better!
