Giving Over
Living and dying
happen together, and
death breaks no bonds.
Times like these
on our tiny planet
when everything is breaking,
only surrender remains.
But giving up,
how it is done?
But what is up?
What is down?
How to give it
all the way
over.
We grab for language as we vanish
into those oceans,
the depths of giving over,
but impermanence
wins again and takes the words away.
The breaking-open times
keep roiling on above our heads
and then we are lifted,
giving,
giving it over;
living
and dying,
happening
at once.
