I Used to be Older
Before I got this young,
I felt afraid to skip,
afraid to grin in public,
afraid of people hurting me.
I used to be careful,
used to be frail.
I used to be bent,
kept myself in jail.
Before I got this young,
I thought I was transparent,
but only a trickle
of who I am got through.
I used to be older,
but now the circle’s turning
back to where I started from.
I used to be older,
but now the circle of my life
is turning back to Love.
